Rossana Dewey is a contemporary oil painter based in Burlington, Ontario. Born and raised in Toronto, Rossana’s creative spirit was nurtured early on by her mother, a seamstress, who instilled in her a love of colour, pattern, and making. After completing Sheridan College’s Continuing Education Fine Arts Certificate Program, Rossana continued her studies at the Dundas Valley School of Art and participated in esteemed programs including the New York Studio School, the Royal Drawing School, and a 2024 residency with Hammer and Sky on Brier Island.
Known for her sensitive interpretation of everyday subjects and plein air landscapes, Rossana’s work explores space, form, and atmosphere rather than strict realism. Her paintings have been shown in numerous juried exhibitions across Ontario, including at the Agnes Jamieson Gallery, the Art Gallery of Burlington, and the Rails End Gallery in Haliburton. She also exhibits at the Butter Gallery in Collingwood. Rossana is a recipient of the Alice Peck Award and an Honourable Mention at the Kaleidoscope Juried Show.
Laurie Jones is the Curator and Executive Director at Rails End Gallery and Arts Centre where she has devoted her creative energy to bringing the creative arts to life since 2006. Since arriving in Haliburton she has been involved in several County-wide plein air events, as a participant, juror and producer.
En Plein Air Haliburton is a passion project for this community animator who believes there is always time to live creatively.
