Heritage House CafeThis unique building was built sometime between 1863 and 1870.
The town records are unclear as to the exact date; however, the house does predate many of the older houses in town. In 1988 the former Banks Store now called the Heritage House Café was deemed a Heritage Building and the oldest commercial establishment in Haliburton by the town of Dysart et al. Originally built by Boyd and Irwin as a store to service lumber jacks and farmers. Over the hundred years plus, it has been a post office, general store, hair salon and café , upstairs even had a bowling alley in the 1930’s. Thank YouRails End Gallery & Arts Centre is grateful for the support it receives from Volunteers, Members, local artists and artisans, donors, sponsors, local businesses, our community partners and government funders. Volunteers and Gallery Members assist in The Ticket Room (our Gallery Shop), and with the Annual Haliburton Art & Craft Festival and fundraising events. Our Members serve on Gallery committees and on the Board of Directors. Artists and artisans offer their work for sale in The Ticket Room, our Gallery Shop and exhibit work in the Gallery and participate in Gallery events and Studio Tour previews. Donors and sponsors contribute in kind or financial gifts. A charitable tax receipt is issued for all donations. There are many opportunities to support children’s programming, gallery exhibitions, community events and most recently, our new patio and community gathering space. Local businesses and community partners promote relationships between Rails End Gallery & Arts Centre and our community. Government Funders contribute to both operating and project costs. The Gallery is grateful to the Municipality of Dysart et al for its ongoing support along with the many other funders listed here.
