Join us again for Books on Film where we’ll discuss  Fried Green Tomatoes and enjoy a Pot Luck anniversary celebration.

Haliburton County Public Library has a variety of formats of the book and has ordered the DVD.

Fried Green Tomatoes is a 1991 comedy-drama film based on the novel Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg. Directed by Jon Avnet and written by Flagg and Carol Sobieski, it stars Kathy BatesJessica TandyMary Stuart Masterson, and Mary-Louise Parker

Books on Film is presented at Rails End Gallery and Arts Centre by Haliburton County Public Library and Stick + Stones Community Outreach and Development.

Admission is by donation.

Date TBA The Handmaid’s Tale – The library has reserved their BookClub set for August and Sept.  We will discuss in April/June the movie/series etc.

The Handmaid’s Tale is a dystopian novel[2] by Canadian author Margaret Atwood,[3][4] originally published in 1985. It is set in a near-future New England, in a totalitarianChristian theonomy that has overthrown the United States government

The Handmaid’s Tale won the 1985 Governor General’s Award and the first Arthur C. Clarke Award in 1987; it was also nominated for the 1986 Nebula Award, the 1986 Booker Prize, and the 1987 Prometheus Award. The book has been adapted into a 1990 film, a 2000 operaa television series, and other media.
